show Abstracthide AbstractTrichomycterus rosablanca is a new troglobitic catfish species from caves in southeastern Santander, Colombia. These caves are drained by the Carare River of the Magdalena River basin. The new species is characterized by the advanced condition in the typical troglomorphisms found in other congeneric cave-dwelling species, such as absence of eyes and pigmentation (written by Carlos DoNascimiento 2018, Biota Colombiana). This genome is from a male found in Andes caves in Santander, Colombia, collected by Mauricio Torres and coordinated by Daniel Cadena to generate a high-quality reference genome for the Vertebrate Genomes Project (VGP) and a Colombia Genomes Project. Sequencing and genome assembly were conducted at the Vertebrate Genomes Lab (VGL) at the Rockefeller University, led by Olivier Fedrigo and Erich D. Jarvis.
